演习名称叫《项目201——一全球流行疾病演习》(Event 201—a global pandemic exercise：http://www.centerforhealthsecurity.org/event201/about)，时间是2019年10月18日，地点在纽约Pierre hotel，主办方是约翰霍普金斯健康安全中心、世界经济论坛、比尔与梅琳达盖兹基金会(Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, World Economic Forum, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation) ，参加者是来自商业、政府、公共健康领域的菁英，他们被要求针对一虚拟流行疾病的爆发作出政策回应，以减轻经济、社会层面的冲击。
据会议所提出的演习剧本，作祟的病源即为一种新型动物传人冠状病毒(a novel zoonotic coronavirus)，感染途径是从蝙蝠到猪再到人，最后有效人传人，终至严重的流行(transmitted from bats to pigs to people that eventually becomes efficiently transmissible from person to person, leading to a severe pandemic)。起先虽有些国家能控制病情，但病毒持续散播导入，最终没有国家能有效控制(Although at first some countries are able to control it, it continues to spread and be reintroduced, and eventually no country can maintain control.)。并称第一年不可能得到疫苗(There is no possibility of a vaccine being available in the first year.)，18个月后将有6500万人丧命(The scenario ends at the 18-month point, with 65 million deaths.)，病毒会持续肆虐到有效疫苗出现或八九成的地球人被感染过后(The pandemic will continue at some rate until there is an effective vaccine or until 80-90 % of the global population has been exposed. )。
